Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of HiPerformance Culture. By using the site you accept them. They are short on purpose: most of what we owe you is written in our Privacy Policy and Editorial Policy, and these terms do not take any of it back.

Not medical advice

HiPerformance Culture publishes research journalism, not medical advice. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a prescription, and nothing here creates a clinical relationship between you and us.

We write about sleep, nutrition, supplements, exercise and cognition. Research describes what happened on average in a study population. It cannot tell you what will happen to you, and it does not know your history, your medication, or your conditions.

The same is true of our interactive tools, and it matters more there because their output looks personal. The Performance Scan, the assessments and the protocols score your own answers, on your own device, against groupings we wrote editorially. A "reading" from any of them is a structured reflection of what you told it, not a measurement of you, and no result from any tool on this site is a diagnosis or a screening instrument. If a result worries you, that is a reason to talk to a clinician, not a substitute for doing so.

Talk to a qualified clinician before you act on anything you read here — particularly before starting or stopping a supplement or medication, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you manage a medical condition, or if you are giving something to a child. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number. Do not delay seeking care because of something you read on this site.

Using our work

Read, quote, cite and share it. Quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link back. Search engines and AI systems may index this site and cite it with attribution; we publish the site openly and maintain an llms.txt for exactly that purpose. What we refuse is wholesale reproduction: do not republish entire articles, mirror the site, or present our work as your own, whether by hand or by machine.

Please do not abuse the site's forms or endpoints. The signup endpoint is rate-limited and bot-filtered, and hammering it helps nobody.

Our content

The articles, assessments, protocols, glossary and design are ours and are protected by copyright, except where we quote or cite someone else's work. Cited papers belong to their authors and publishers; our citation of a study is not a licence to it.

Interactive tools and your data in them

The Scan, the assessments and the protocols run in your browser and keep their data there, as the Privacy Policy describes. Two practical consequences belong in the terms. First, that data is in your custody: if you clear your browser or lose the device without using the protocol export, the progress is gone and we cannot restore it. Second, the export file the protocols produce is created for your own use; keep it somewhere sensible, because anyone who has the file can read it.

The tools are provided free and as they are. We test them and we fix what breaks, but we do not warrant that a score, a reading or a saved file will be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

We work hard to get things right. Our sourcing and verification are described in our Editorial & Corrections Policy, along with the number of our sources that are machine-verified and the number that are not.

Even so, research moves, papers are retracted, and we make mistakes. We provide the site as it is, without warranty that every statement is complete, current or error-free. Tell us when we are wrong and we will correct it.

Links to other sites

We link extensively to journals, publishers and DOI records. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their policies.

Commercial links

Where we earn from a link we say so. See our Affiliate Disclosure. Everything on the site today — every article, tool, assessment and protocol — is free. If we ever sell something, the sale will carry its own terms; nothing in these terms commits you to a purchase.

The Dispatch

Our email list is opt-in, and every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately. What we store when you subscribe, and how to have it deleted, is in the Privacy Policy.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its tools. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected wherever you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated version. For anything significant we will say so on the site rather than rely on a quiet edit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. Our readers are global, and this clause does not reach further than the law lets it: if you are a consumer, it does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the place you live, or of your right to bring proceedings in your own courts.
